Weather and Climate
Bhutan is a truly diverse country when it comes to weather and climate. The high 7,000 metre peaks of the north experience almost artic conditions while southern areas bordering India experience hot and humid summers with cool winters. Monsoon rains can also affect large parts of the country between June and September meaning larger amounts of cloud but gloriously verdant forests and hillsides. Generally spring and autumn are considered the ‘best’ times to visit but Bhutan has something to offer visitors year round, just pack accordingly.
In Thimpu where Terma Linca is located, guests can expect temperatures in January just below zero degrees Celsius rising to 25 degrees plus in summertime.
Don’t forget that Terma Linca is over 2,500 metres above sea level meaning that you are just that bit closer to the sun. The UV index can be higher than expected even on cooler days so please be sure to take extra care in applying sunscreen when outdoors even on cloudy days.
